It Is What It Is (Red Vinyl)

"It is what it is..." – Sometimes a title says it all. With his fourth studio album, Thundercat (Stephen Bruner) cemented his status as the most influential bassist of his generation. The album deservedly won the Grammy for Best Progressive R&B Album in 2021. This limited edition on vibrant red vinyl is the perfect visual match for this fiery mix of funk, soul, and jazz fusion.

"It Is What It Is" is a profound meditation on loss, love, and life itself – dedicated to his late friend Mac Miller. Musically, however, it is anything but ponderous: It is a feather-light, technically brilliant journey through the cosmos of a musician who knows no genre boundaries.

A must-have for fans of progressive R&B:

From the driving, funky "Dragonball Durag" to the spacey, melancholic title track at the end – this album covers the entire emotional spectrum. The production is crystal clear and gives Thundercat's six-string bass the necessary space on vinyl to unfold its full warmth and precision.
